BARBARA FISHBURNE

Barbara is woman that is a delight to meet and her clients appreciate her astute business sense and intelligence that is combined with a caring spirit and an instant warm smile and sense of humor. 

She grew up the daughter of a Navy widow where money was a scarcity but hard work ethics, values and integrity were in abundance.  Those attributes led her to earn college scholarships and she went on to earn undergraduate and Masters Degrees from the University of Florida.  She then headed to Washington, DC and obtained a job and enjoyed a long and successful career in one of the nation’s top political law firms before meeting her husband Bill.

In 1980 she and her husband Bill chose Asheville, NC as the place they wanted to relocate and start and raise their family.  Their three children are now grown and they are blessed with two grandchildren.  Barbara relates to clients of all different ages, personalities and needs. She loves sharing the special features of the mountains of western North Carolina with others who want the quality of life that she and her family have enjoyed for so many years.

She and her husband have had the pleasure of establishing successful computer and internet businesses in the area and as she believes in giving back, Barbara has been highly active in the community.  She helped establish the first WNC chapter of children with Hyperactivity and Attention Deficit disorder (CHADD), and was an advocate for children for ten years. 

Having grown children now allows for her to enjoy her real estate career and also to indulge other interests as well.  She is a swirl of activity behind the scenes at the Asheville Community Theater where she has served as Props mistress on several plays, and even appeared on stage in one of them.

Her active interest towards a real estate career initially was the result of the decision to remodel her own home. That experience gives her a definite edge that benefits her clients. Her other special interest today is interior design and the ability to shape a home into an individual expression of the new owner without spending a fortune in the process.
