Kelly Gold

A native of Northeastern North Carolina, Kelly attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she studied film and theatre. She moved to Asheville in 1996 and gave birth to her son, Zoe Atticus in 1997. In 1998, she relocated to Charlotte, but she missed Asheville so much that she moved back less than a year later. WNC just felt like home!
In 2000, Kelly opened a retail shop, Orbit, in downtown Asheville. Orbit featured vintage Art Deco and Modernist furniture, art and accessories. She also exhibited and sold the work of local painters, photographers, glass blowers, furniture makers and metal artists. Kelly and Orbit were prominently featured in the Top 100 of 2002 in Wallpaper Magazine, an international design and lifestyle publication.
An avid art collector, Kelly has been on the Board of Directors of the Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center since 2005, was the past Treasurer and is the current Secretary. Kelly was the co-curator of an exhibition at the museum: "Thinking Ahead: Progressive Design + Black Mountain College", which explored the school as an important nexus for modernist design in the 1930s-1950s. She also co-authored the exhibition catalog for the BMCM+AC's "Breaking New Ground: The Studio Potter + Black Mountain College", which won the NC Museum Council's 2007 award for best limited color catalog. These exhibitions received attention from Modernism Magazine and American Craft magazine. Also in 2007, she was a guest curator on "Living By Design: Mid-Century Modern" for the Asheville Art Museum. In 2008, Kelly was the chairperson for the second annual "Mobiles Over Asheville" fundraising gala in downtown Asheville, and worked on the committee for that event in 2007. Most recently, she was a contributing author on a book for the Catawba Valley Historical Association, to be published in 2010. Kelly’s decade of experience as an editor and copywriter is of great benefit to her sellers and makes her a natural match for marketing your property.
