Karen King-Smith has had a really varied life across these United States. Originally from the north, Karen was raised in Pennsylvania outside of Philadelphia. She and her family spent summers at Cape Cod, Massachusetts and Normandy Beach, New Jersey. Later, she traveled west to attend the University of Washington in Seattle and graduated with a B.A. in Communications and Advertising.

For 30 plus years she enjoyed a successful career in marketing, from working for a major magazine, to government contracts, to a sales career as a manufacturer's rep. 

Having moved to Asheville in 1985, she almost qualifies as a "southerner" now! She and her husband, an Asheville attorney, have three children from age twelve to 27. Since her oldest child is an equestrian, Karen spent many years as a United States Pony Club volunteer.

She is a 25 year member of  ABWA (American Business Women's Association) and is the current President. In 2010 and 2005, she was elected "Woman of the Year" and represented the chapter at The National Convention. Karen is also a 10th Mountain Division Descendant. Other community participation includes membership at the First Presbyterian Church of Asheville.

Karen has a passion about helping newcomers to the area with her knowledge of communities, available civic activities, schools and cultural events. She loves the experience of assisting buyers and sellers in making "local" moves since she feels so blessed to have called this area home for her and her family for so many years.
