Mark Allmond

   Mark has lived in Western North Carolina since 2001, but had been planning to move here for the previous 20 years. While in college at The University of Georgia, Mark started making road trips to the area to backpack and fish. In 1985, he discovered the new sport of mountain biking.

“We started coming up to the mountains all the time to ride. We would just find a place to camp and take off on our bikes. Since the sport was so new, we never saw other riders. Hikers and hunters would see us and think we were crazy!” he says. Mark is still a serious mountain biker, having raced the Off Road Assault on Mt. Mitchell and the Swank 65 many times. In 2000, Mark won a silver medal in the Georgia Games. He also rides a road bike, giving him an extensive knowledge of the network of back roads throughout the area.

  The most important thing in Mark’s life is family. He and his wife Ellen have two daughters. “We moved to NC before our kids started school because we wanted to settle somewhere permanently. Our children have had the benefit of living in a beautiful area, with lots of cultural activities to get involved in, as well as having a core group of friends they have known since kindergarten. Both of us had to move a couple of times as kids, so choosing a place our children could feel rooted to was important to both of us.”

   With 22 years of experience as a sales rep for a Fortune 500 company, Mark made the career change to real estate so that he could get back to a more personal service oriented business, something that had been lost in a big corporate environment. “I can track all of my past successes to the times I was more focused on my clients’ needs than my own. I will treat every one of your expenses with the same care I take with my own expenses. I will be proactive and do my best to make your transaction go as smoothly as possible.”
