“It’s People that Matter!”
Rex Cutshall and his family are all Western North Carolina natives. Rex does say, however, that thanks to the US Air Force he is not native born, but his parents brought him back home to the mountains for a “proper raisin”. He grew up in the natural beauty of the Bent Creek area of Buncombe County and literally has a lifetime of knowledge and experiences in these magnificent mountains.
As a graduate of Enka High School and Asheville- Buncombe Tech, Rex earned a degree in Engineering Design. He enjoyed a 22 year engineering career with Square D Co. working as a designer, engineering team leader, and eventually, program manager. During his career at Square D, Rex received a U.S. Patent for some of his designs. He managed and implemented multi-million dollar international product line transfers. He has also worked as Production Manager for Nypro Plastics, a worldwide manufacturer of medical delivery systems.
Rex is truly a man of many talents. He comes from a very musical family. His father, Frank Cutshall, was the lead singer with the famous Kingsmen Quartet. Rex is an accomplished musical artist in his own right, involved in recording projects from Asheville to Vancouver, Canada. Rex was also on staff at Grace Community Church in Fletcher for five years, serving as Music/Worship and Technical Director.
His energy seems unlimited. He served on the Board of Directors of WNC Youth for Christ for seven years and Chairman of the Board for three years. He has also volunteered with the Billy Graham Organization, as a Satellite/Recording Technician in the Ukraine, and as a musician at their national training center, The Cove.
Throughout his different careers, which also included a time in residential construction and plumbing, Rex was always involved in real estate, purchasing and rehabbing old properties and managing his own rental property. So when the time was right, the transition to real estate was a natural event.
Rex and his wife, Jan, have two grown children. Their family enjoys time together soaking in all of nature’s wonders and the many culturally diverse activities of WNC. Rex is equally in his element at a good old fashioned blue jean & T-shirt “pig pickin” or a black tie evening at the theatre.
Those that know Rex comment that his demeanor is cool, calm and persistent, “like an underground river”. He brings creativity and precision to any endeavor. He will also bring his heart and a passion to help others realize their dreams. When you meet Rex, you also will immediately recognize that for him, it truly is “people that matter!”
