SANDY AUSTIN
There is something unique about Sandy…she is an Asheville Native! Sandy has happily spent her entire life in Asheville. She remembers shopping big department stores downtown with her Grandmother before the mall came to town. In those days, the streets of the city rolled up at 5 PM…but not anymore! Today, Sandy enjoys shopping and dining downtown ‘til all hours of the night. The vibrant changes in Asheville from the exciting revitalization of downtown to the growth of new home communities surrounding the city is what keeps Sandy here and keeps others joining her.
Sandy comes from a family of educators. Both of her parents were Buncombe County school teachers. Growing up in south Asheville, Sandy graduated from T.C. Roberson High School, where she was a cheerleader. When you meet Sandy, you will immediately see that cheerleader enthusiasm shine through. She received her Bachelors degree in 1984 from Appalachian State University. Her career path led her to be a Retail Buyer for Ivey’s Department Stores and later, for Belk Department Stores. In 1991 Sandy earned her Masters Degree in Education and taught at Asheville Middle School. Although Sandy loved these careers, she had the opportunity to purchase and operate a tuxedo shop here in Asheville. All of these different experiences have given Sandy the ability to understand the diverse needs and differing interests of the buyers and sellers she works with. By understanding these needs, Sandy is able to better assist each and every client. Let’s hear what her clients have said about her!
"If everyone is a great as Sandy Austin, Beverly-Hanks has it made!"
"Sandy provided excellent service and credible information. She went the extra mile in digging into unknowns to resolve issues."
"Excellent, excellent, excellent!"
"Our agent was amazing! She was patient with us and very helpful." (first time home buyers)
"Sandy was terrific! She was available at all times and is a joy to work with. She is friendly and thoughtful."
Sandy is happily married to Jim, also a native of Asheville. Jim is a financial consultant with First Citizens Bank and he enjoys helping his customers achieve their financial goals. Sandy and Jim welcomed their daughter, Aubrey, into their lives in 2001. Aubrey brings such joy into their lives. Completing her family are their two dogs, Bonnie and Lucy, and their one-eyed cat, Boots. Sandy and her family live in North Asheville.
Sandy maintains a strong commitment to her community. She is PTO secretary as well as the Silent Auction Chairman for the Fall Festival, a fundraiser for Ira B. Jones elementary school. She is a past member of the Junior League of Asheville, and a current member of the Asheville Track Club.
Sandy’s passion is running. She has been an avid runner for 22 years. Running gives her life the balance it needs between family, work and volunteering. Sandy may mention she has run a marathon, when actually she has completed 13, including the infamous Boston Marathon…twice! And if you are familiar with marathoning, you know you must qualify to be able to run the Boston Marathon! Way to go, Sandy.
Sandy’s career in real estate started quite by accident. She and Jim began buying, re-habbing and selling houses as a hobby, just for fun. The hobby soon became an addiction, and a career was born. Sandy loves being a Realtor. Together with her love of Asheville makes this a winning combination. Every single day proves to be new and exciting, and Sandy’s ambition makes her a great Realtor to work with.
As you can see by her marathon running, perseverance is one of Sandy’s strengths. She will "go the distance" in helping you either sell your home or locate your dream home. Sandy is a real winner and will put you first in achieving your real estate goals. Call Sandy today.
