About Asheville - Transportation

Asheville is located at the junction of Interstate 26 and Interstate 40, with an I-240 connector that passes through downtown. The Asheville area is also served by 10 US and state highways. The Blue Ridge Parkway has four accesses in the Asheville area. An expanded I-26 corridor linking Western North Carolina and northeast is currently underway.    

Asheville Regional Airport, 15 miles south of Asheville on I-26, is serviced regularly by jet and commuter airlines. Daily flights provide connections to all major cities and it is currently the fourth largest airport in North Carolina. The airport has an 8,000 foot runway and all modern navigational aids. A variety of automobile rental agencies are available at the airport. Adjacent to the main terminal, the Asheville Jet Center is a general aviation, fixed based operation for private large and small aircraft. Aircraft storage is available for large corporate and small private aircraft, including Private T hangars.

Greyhound Trailways Bus System provides daily bus service to Asheville. The Asheville Transit Authority operates bus routes throughout the city. Private bus carriers serve limited rural and suburban areas. Modern buses are available for charter services and tours.
