FletcherThe Town of Fletcher is located in Henderson County, North Carolina approximately 10 miles south of downtown Asheville. Several major roadways provide easy access to Fletcher. US Highway 25 runs north-south through the center of the Town and is the main thoroughfare for residents. Interstate 26 is located to the west and travels through North Carolina to Tennessee and South Carolina. Located in Fletcher, the Asheville Regional Airport provides convenient non-stop service to Charlotte, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Houston, Minneapolis, Newark, and Orlando. Apple County Transit, an area bus line, connects Fletcher residents with the City of Hendersonville.
Fletcher offers a small town atmosphere in close proximity to the urban amenities of Asheville and Hendersonville. Fletcher continues to attract new residents because of its exceptional quality of life. The Western North Carolina Agricultural Center, located in Fletcher, is an exhibition facility with three arenas with show rings, warm-up rings and stall barns. It is also site of the North Carolina Mountain State Fair, held the first 10 days in September each year.
Fletcher Community Park located off of Howard Gap Road is a 60 acre park that includes two playgrounds, T-ball fields, youth soccer fields, an adult softball field, picnic areas, horse-shoe areas, disc golf course and a concession stand with restrooms. The park first opened in 1999 and completed its second phase in 2005. There are also five different walking trails throughout the park.
The town celebrates the holidays with its annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony at Fletcher Community Park as well as an Easter Egg Hunt and a Children’s Halloween Carnival.
Students in the Fletcher vicinity would attend public school at either Fletcher Elementary School located at 500 Howard Gap Road or Glenn C. Marlow Elementary School located at 1985 Butler Bridge Road. Students are then sent to either Apple Valley Middle School located at 43 Fruitland Road or Rugby Middle School located at 3345 Haywood Road. High school students attend either North High School located at 35 Fruitland Road or West High School located at 3600 Haywood Road. Veritas Christian Academy, a private school for students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade, is located at 17 Cane Creek Road within the town’s limits.
The climate in Fletcher is fairly mild with temperatures ranging from the lower 20s in the winter to the mid-80s in the summer.
