According to the Counselors of Real Estate, the pandemic universally caused a movement away from urban cores. This trend is particularly true for those with higher incomes who could afford to move. This newfound geographic flexibility is one reason why Western North Carolina’s luxury housing market is up 267%. Most people moving from urban areas remained within their original region (84%).
