Alysia has moved a lot. Born in Bournemouth, England on the southern coast of the United Kingdom; she immigrated to Toronto, Canada as a child with my parents. From there they applied to come into the United States of America, and settling in the Upstate New York area: Rochester, Brighton, Henrietta and then Scottsville. From New York, there was a stint in California; Thousand Oaks, Pasadena, Anaheim and Saugus, Back to New York then to Florida, where she met her husband James, a native of Boca Raton, Florida.
They started their lives with much adventure living in Boca Raton, Pompano Beach and Key West, where they were involved with a bit of treasure hunting. When their daughter Shannon was born, Alysia became a United States citizen because it was the right thing to do! James and Alysia also realized that they wanted a more wholesome environment to raise their daughter, That "Mayberry" lifestyle as it were. They were truly fortunate to have found Henderson County, North Carolina. With three homes in different areas of Henderson County in 1993 they built their current home in Flat Rock.
Alysia and her husband have been strong supporters and advocates of many community based organizations: Alysia's passion of education and nurturing, lead her to multiple volunteer opportunities within the Hendersonville Schools. She also was a mentor, regional and state level judge for the Odyssey of the Mind Program. They have been heavily involved in varying aspects with the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce, Pardee Hospital, and many more. Giving back to the community is very important to them.
Alysia and James, and daughter Shannon, Florida State University Alumni, are avid FSU Athletic Fans, attending games in Tallahassee and varying other venues. They have attended the Olympics in LA and Atlanta, traveled extensively throughout this wonderful country.
Their daughter is living in the Washington DC area as an attorney with her son. James' daughter, Kim, is Self Employed in Logistics in the Atlanta, GA area.
Alysia and James adopted a client's Shih Tzu, as their health prevented them from continuing to care for little Cocoa. Alysia's other passions other than rescuing animals includes: photography, snorkeling, and continuing to travel and explore this wonderful planet.
Alysia has just become Broker in Charge eligible and continues to challenge herself in the learning experience to assist her clients.

We would like to take this opportunity to communicate our experience with Alysia Maher, Realtor in the Henderosnville Office of Beverly-Hanks & Associates. She is not just a sales agent but an exceptional sales agent who goes above and beyond an agent's job description; she is an exceptional agent who goes above and beyond anyone's expectations. Alysia was not the agent we had originally chosen to represent us. However, after a month or so working with Alysia, it bacame appartent she ws the agent we should have chosen first. During every step of the provess in selling our home, Alysia kept us apprised of what to expect. We received numerous e-mails on the status of home sales in Hendersonville and the nation. During our moments of uncertainty and nervousness about the ability to sell our property, Alysia was always available to talk with us, either on the phone or in person. We always felt she had our best interests in the forefront of every potentional buyer's interaction. including teh selling our our house to a buyer who inquired about our home through the internet. While we were in Florida closing on the home we had built, we received a call from the showing service for an agent to show the home. We were concerned our house might not show well as we had three adult cats and the litter box had not been cleaned out that day. A text message was sent to Alysia informing her of our state of affairs. It was not long after that, that we received a text message saying not to worry; all was taken care of, including taking the litter box and feeding of our cats. Because of her efforts, the coupld came back for a second showing. After what seemed like an eternity, we finally received an offer on our home which we accepted. On the very last day of due diligence and 6 days before closing the buyer's backed out. Of course we were 90% packed, the movers were scheduled and our plants were being shipped to Florida, the biggest concern we had was a bird had built a nest in the begonia plant on the front porch, should we decide to leave for our new life in Florida as planned. It would have been easy to let the plant die, but that would surely kill the little bird who was about to hatch. Arrangement were tentatively made to have someone in the neighborhood stop by and water the plant, but that created another issue as we had turned the water off, as we did not know when the next buyer might come along. In addition to the bird worries, arrangements had to be made to have them lawn, we nutured for 3 years, mowed by someone willing to help us on a weekly basis. This was a daunting task when all mowers in the area wanted a yearly contract. In the face of these concerns as well as leaving the house empty, we decided to leave. Alysia, knowing we were leaving the hosue empty assured us everything would be fine. Five days after we relocated, we recieved a call from Alysia saying she had "watered the bird", and walked around the property to ensure everything was fine. Alysia kept us informed of how the property looked and the status of the bird in the begonia plant. These calls came every week until the week of our closing with buyer number 2 whose offer came 7 days after we left. Her assistance did not stop there. She made arrangements for an attorney in NC as well as follow through on all necessary documentation so we were able to close while in Florida. We were amazed a sales agent would be so helptful and throughtful. There are truly not enough words to express our gratitufe to Alysia for all she has done to help us sell our home.

We would like to take this opportunity to communicate our experience with Alysia Maher, Realtor in the Henderosnville Office of Beverly-Hanks & Associates. She is not just a sales agent but an exceptional sales agent who goes above and beyond an agent's job description; she is an exceptional agent who goes above and beyond anyone's expectations. Alysia was not the agent we had originally chosen to represent us. However, after a month or so working with Alysia, it bacame appartent she ws the agent we should have chosen first. During every step of the provess in selling our home, Alysia kept us apprised of what to expect. We received numerous e-mails on the status of home sales in Hendersonville and the nation. During our moments of uncertainty and nervousness about the ability to sell our property, Alysia was always available to talk with us, either on the phone or in person. We always felt she had our best interests in the forefront of every potentional buyer's interaction. including teh selling our our house to a buyer who inquired about our home through the internet. While we were in Florida closing on the home we had built, we received a call from the showing service for an agent to show the home. We were concerned our house might not show well as we had three adult cats and the litter box had not been cleaned out that day. A text message was sent to Alysia informing her of our state of affairs. It was not long after that, that we received a text message saying not to worry; all was taken care of, including taking the litter box and feeding of our cats. Because of her efforts, the coupld came back for a second showing. After what seemed like an eternity, we finally received an offer on our home which we accepted. On the very last day of due diligence and 6 days before closing the buyer's backed out. Of course we were 90% packed, the movers were scheduled and our plants were being shipped to Florida, the biggest concern we had was a bird had built a nest in the begonia plant on the front porch, should we decide to leave for our new life in Florida as planned. It would have been easy to let the plant die, but that would surely kill the little bird who was about to hatch. Arrangement were tentatively made to have someone in the neighborhood stop by and water the plant, but that created another issue as we had turned the water off, as we did not know when the next buyer might come along. In addition to the bird worries, arrangements had to be made to have them lawn, we nutured for 3 years, mowed by someone willing to help us on a weekly basis. This was a daunting task when all mowers in the area wanted a yearly contract. In the face of these concerns as well as leaving the house empty, we decided to leave. Alysia, knowing we were leaving the hosue empty assured us everything would be fine. Five days after we relocated, we recieved a call from Alysia saying she had "watered the bird", and walked around the property to ensure everything was fine. Alysia kept us informed of how the property looked and the status of the bird in the begonia plant. These calls came every week until the week of our closing with buyer number 2 whose offer came 7 days after we left. Her assistance did not stop there. She made arrangements for an attorney in NC as well as follow through on all necessary documentation so we were able to close while in Florida. We were amazed a sales agent would be so helptful and throughtful. There are truly not enough words to express our gratitufe to Alysia for all she has done to help us sell our home.

How is the tax bill of a home determined in North Carolina?
Real property is appraised at 100% of market value and includes land, buildings, structures, and improvements. State law requires counties to reappraise every eight years, but many counties reappraise every four. A bill can be a combination of tax rates. For example, a home inside the City of Asheville and Asheville City School districts will have three separate tax rates represented on a bill: the Buncombe County rate, the City of Asheville rate, and the Asheville City School rate. All rates are totaled to calculate the total tax liability. Tax rate estimates for our mountain communities can be found on page 127 of the Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks Welcome magazine.
