Years ago there was an advertisement for some mass produced swill that said something like—the one beer to have when you’re having more than one. This beer is the opposite—the one beer to have when you’re having ONLY one. Finish is chocolate, with subtle hints of the bourbon barrel aging; often rated as one of top 10 beers in US. I concur, and that’s before the 12.3% abv kicks in. Good beer when you’re staying home. #bh

Had a chance to try a new brewery (new to me, they’ve been open a year) today. Hillman Beer in Asheville—about 20 taps, good variety and all were good. Tried an IPA, Double IPA, Belgian Pale, Saison, margarita gose, Brown ale, Brett saison, Brett NE IPA, and a kolsch. Lunch was really good too. #bh
Walked down the driveway this morning to put some letters in mailbox and pick up garbage can. Headphones on, rocking out, had my back to road. Saw something out of corner of my eye and thought was a neighbor. Turned around and what did I see? A bear, about 5-10 feet away from me. Looked at each other, and I thought—quick, get your phone out for picture. By the time I got it out, through password, etc, he was walking away. Maybe he was looking for a couple a pica-nic baskets.....#bh
The first day in a couple of weeks that we were able to get outside to play because of all the rain. This Josie’s ready position as she waits for me to throw or kick the ball. #bh #gsdpuppy
Even though they are sellouts, they still make one of the most refreshing (and tasty) summer beers. You can even add a touch of gin if you want to kick it up a notch. #bh
Josie and I got a little walk in between rainstorms. This was one of the ponds at Flat Rock park. With all this rain I’ve figured out I need some comfortable rain boots living here (or a canoe or ark). #bh

Is the first offer always the best offer?

It depends... It depends on the whether a neighborhood is in demand, whether the clock is ticking, and if there are other contingencies. If it depends, then why is the "first offer" tenet trumpeted loudly by well-meaning agents? Today, home buyers learn of new listings almost immediately through online alerts. Timing is everything in real estate. Experienced agents know that the combination of alerts and low supply drives the sense of scarcity to peak during the first weeks a home is on the market. Demand fades as the weeks pass, and with less demand, offers become less exciting for sellers.
