Annie Harper
About Me
Pronouns: She / Her / HersI have a knack for thinking outside the box, making people laugh, and singing at the top of my lungs (when appropriate). A small claim to fame was singing on the stage of New York’s Carnegie Hall! I love the ocean and fancy myself a photographer and a fashionista. My favorite thing to do is help people, whether feeding them a four-course meal or helping YOU to find a forever home.
Growing up on the North Carolina coast of Oak Island, where surfer gear and swimsuits were part of the lax “dress code,” my family uprooted to Louisiana, where parochial schools and knee-length plaid skirts were the rule. I was swept into a whole new dialect of Mardi Gras, beignets, and French last names. People have said that I have a chameleon-like ability to get along with all types of people as a result of my cross-cultural upbringing. A few years ago, I decided to return to North Carolina.
My one and only daughter is by far my crowning achievement. We love our three dogs and birdwatching on our back porch in the Celo community of Burnsville.
Experience
Do you need a helping hand with the trials of moving, house hunting, and transitioning in a new place? I’m Annie, and I’m your seasoned pro.
After graduating from Louisiana State University, I practiced interior design in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. For many years, I offered professional organizing and staging services. Custom upholstery, contemporary art, and lighting design became lifelong passions of mine. Through many years of paying attention to real estate trends, flipping my home in Portland, Oregon in a short time frame was a standout success!
Now, as a full-time professional real estate agent, I am ready to help you to buy or sell your home with complimentary staging advice. We can also work together on finding your forever home with an eye for the proper scale of furnishings to suit your lifestyle.

We were not able to travel to the location due to our schedule and Annie took great efforts to video the property and provide us with excellent feedback and detail. Annie's responses were very timely - which was crucial in this seller's market. She coordinated the closing while we were out of town and has helped us with local contacts for future home services.

Annie worked with me in the sale of my Father's home which was quite successful. There was no thought of using anyone else for this sale. We knew she had tremendous assets and thus were repeat customers for her. It was a waiting game and we knew we needed the RIGHT buyers for our beloved home. Annie was very encouraging as the weeks and months went by, so we just remained patient when the first buyer backed out. I think the couple that bought it really appreciate the house juxtaposed with the private setting. There were several snags to straighten out and hoops to jump through, but she was with us the whole way. Annie handled everything, but I would expect nothing less than excellence from the operational staff in Burnsville; from the impressive office itself to the website which emphasizes the natural beauty and sophistication of the Asheville region. I first approached the broker who assisted my parents in the purchase of their home, but she was too busy to talk to me. Upon walking in to the Burnsville office of Beverly Hanks, Annie greeted me with a genuine smile and the right question, "How can I help you?" The overall experience had its ups and dows, but Annie sold both homes I have ever owned and I am extremely pleased with the results!

Annie is quite knowledgeable about the area, is well-versed in the purchase/sale process and is highly professional in all of her work. We especially appreciated her advice on purchase offer price... we ended up purchasing the property below the appraisal. She was a great advocate and did some much-appreciated hand-holding when there were small hiccups in the negotiations. There were challenges in communications with the listing agent/seller and Annie's persistence was valuable. Annie was responsive, cheery, positive and upbeat throughout the process... a joy to work with.

During the pandemic and staying home during Houston's long, hot, humid summer, we began to long for the cooler climes of the Appalachian mountains. As I researched "Houses for Sale in Asheville," Annie's website popped up. For over a year, I received updates regarding million dollar plus houses in the area. I grew to know the houses and market in the area through Annie's website. When we were ready to explore in person, I called Annie Harper because she seemed the best match for the type of house we wanted. I reached out to her and she quickly set up time for us to chat. During our initial call, she listened, understood, and quickly zeroed in on our interest. As we explored various homes and neighborhoods, she observed what we liked, asked for feedback, and found more for us to explore. During the entire process, I felt like Annie was truly representing our interest and dedicated to helping us. She was never pushy, impatient, or rushed. She seemed happy to respond to our request and was very flexible with our schedule as we expected which was what we needed since we mixed the housing explore with our friends and fun. Annie was pleasant, professional, and personable. It was easy to let her know us and she let us know her--easy and efficient for us all.

Annie went above and beyond every step of the process. We had a lot of hurdles in the process and she helped us over each one with care and understanding. Annie was spectacular. Every question was answered with a knowledgeable answer or the ability to find the correct answer. Through lending, inspections, and even hooking up the utilities to our new home! We encountered some crossed lines of communication in lending, and one staff member who could have treated us with a bit more care. But overall our experience was good/satisfactory.

Ask An Expert
Is there a best time of the year to buy a house?
When it comes to buying a home, there are pros and cons for each season. Generally, the best season to buy a home is in late summer or fall. There are still plenty of homes for sale, but without the intense competition found during spring. Sellers are also known for being a bit more flexible this time of the year. Zillow reports that the highest number of listings with at least one price reduction are found August–September. However, the deeper buyers venture into fall, the less choice is available. If you value choice, and you want more buyers competing for the home you are leaving, spring could be your best season. Ultimately, the best time to buy a home is when you’re financially ready to do so.
