About Me
Bill Griffin is a southern gentleman in the truest and finest sense of the word. As a committed practitioner in the Real Estate industry and a third generation Asheville native he is soft spoken, gentle and ethical. He offers to his clients caring and listening skills and he loves people and a challenge. A real estate transaction can be a challenge; however, with Bill's long term knowledge of the area and commitment to providing stellar service to his clients, as a 42 year licensed broker, he meets that challenge and paves the way to success for them.
A graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School (now Asheville High), he went on to earn a B.A. in Psychology from Wake Forest University/Winston Salem. He then attended graduate Business School at the University of Alabama where he courted his future wife Alice, a 27 year real estate professional with Beverly-Hanks. They have proudly celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary and are blessed with two grown children and four grandchildren. Also, Bill served in the Air National Guard for seven years.
His business career began in banking with a major national bank. Bill worked his way up to Vice President through the ranks from a Branch Manager to Commercial Loan and Development Officer and was primarily responsible for acquiring and servicing commercial and professional bank relationships. He also had oversight of the Investment activities of the Asheville office. Through the years he has been an owner of several local businesses including real estate investment syndication and residential property management serving WNC investors from acquisition analysis to managing over 400 units. He spent many years in financial planning as President-Registered Securities Principal, RIA of Professional Wealth Management, Inc.
Loving his hometown as he does and the people he is privileged to serve, Bill's caring and giving nature extends his generosity to his community. He has served on many Boards and held various offices with Cenral United Methodist and Arden Presbyterian Churches, the Salvation Army, Boys and Girls Club, YMCA, Biltmore Forest Country Club, Civitan Club, United Way, and Family Counseling Service.
The Griffin family enjoys annual family trips to the many wonderful North and South Carolina beaches and he and Alice enjoy the Caribbean and Europe.
After God, family and country, Bill's love is golf. If you want to talk golf or golf course communities, he is your man! When time allows other activities he enjoys area fishing, hunting and skiing and of course he is an avid Wake Forest and Alabama sports fan. You'll be a fan of his when you work with him in the sale or purchase of property in Western North Carolina!

How is the tax bill of a home determined in North Carolina?
Real property is appraised at 100% of market value and includes land, buildings, structures, and improvements. State law requires counties to reappraise every eight years, but many counties reappraise every four. A bill can be a combination of tax rates. For example, a home inside the City of Asheville and Asheville City School districts will have three separate tax rates represented on a bill: the Buncombe County rate, the City of Asheville rate, and the Asheville City School rate. All rates are totaled to calculate the total tax liability. Tax rate estimates for our mountain communities can be found on page 127 of the Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks Welcome magazine.
