About Me

I was born in northwestern Germany. My father came to America after the war because he could not find work in Germany. My sister, mother, and I came to the United States to join him when I was 3 1/2 years old by boat. It took us 10 days and we entered through the port of New York. My family settled in New Jersey. I grew up in Irvington, NJ, which had an amusement park where I spent most of my days throughout the summers. I had a joyful carefree childhood in New Jersey. I graduated from High School in 1969.

That summer my friends and I went to Woodstock and we were there for 3 days. That was a life-changing experience!! I attended Essex County College for one year and worked full-time in the counseling division. When I was 18, some of my friends were moving to Los Angeles and of course, I had to go with them. It was an amazing time to be alive - in the 70's living in California. I landed a position with the first internet dating site, Computer Dating. I became a governess for some children in Topanga Canyon and then moved to northern California -Mill Valley, Ca., where I became a massage therapist, licensed in swedish, shotzu, and Japanese back-walking.

I met my first husband who was a bass player for Van Morrison. We traveled extensively with his career and ended up back on the East Coast in Manhattan, NY, where I worked for CBS advertising, records division. While in Manhattan I re-married and had my first-born child, a boy. Shortly after we moved to Glens Falls, NY. After having a second child, I wanted to become a real estate agent. I really enjoyed looking at real estate and saw the profession as an important helping profession. We moved to Marathon Key, FL in the 80's due to my husband's career move. While in the Keys I worked for Emergency Services. We then moved to Boca Raton, FL, where I finally realized my dream of becoming a real estate agent in 1992. I worked for Century 21 and Luxury Homes. I then took a job as an on-site sales agent for Lennar Homes in Palm Beach, Fl, where I was for many years and really enjoyed my work as an agent.

I moved to Black Mountain, NC, in 1998 as I wanted my children to grow up in a "Mayberry" atmosphere. I continued my career in Real Estate with Naomi Hall Real Estate. In 2013 I decided to move to Lake Lure and become an agent with Beverly-Hanks & Realtors. I enjoy working and helping people with all aspects of real estate in this market. I have lived both in Rumbling Bald Resort and Riverbend in Lake Lure.

Is there a best time of the year to buy a house?

When it comes to buying a home, there are pros and cons for each season. Generally, the best season to buy a home is in late summer or fall. There are still plenty of homes for sale, but without the intense competition found during spring. Sellers are also known for being a bit more flexible this time of the year. Zillow reports that the highest number of listings with at least one price reduction are found August–September. However, the deeper buyers venture into fall, the less choice is available. If you value choice, and you want more buyers competing for the home you are leaving, spring could be your best season. Ultimately, the best time to buy a home is when you’re financially ready to do so.
