About Me
Carolyn is a long-time resident of Asheville (since 1990) with many years of experience as a REALTORⓇ in Western North Carolina. Carolyn is originally from Oregon, where most of her family still resides, but she has raised her own family right here in WNC. She loves the mountains, which have always reminded her of her West Coast home. She goes back to visit her family as often as possible, but returning to her Asheville home makes her feel very lucky that both places she calls "home" are so beautiful.
Carolyn earned her Associate in Applied Science with a focus in Business Administration.
Experience
It is important to Carolyn to feel her clients are satisfied with their transaction. She does her best to accomplish that goal. She is very enthusiastic about reaching the highest level of satisfaction for them.
Carolyn got her real estate license in 2000, but she waited until 2006 to activate it. She became a REALTORⓇ with the National Association of RealtorsⓇ that year and began working with both buyers and sellers. She continued working within the industry through many avenues and throughout the years by managing tenants of rental properties, managing vacation rentals, and working with buyers, sellers, and investors of all price ranges. Since 2013, she has been a property manager for 70+ properties and was the Vice President and Broker In Charge of a start-up business.
Carolyn has a passion for helping people, from finding the right home to finding the right investment property, and is very involved in finding the right property for her clients and seeing the purchase through from start to finish. She has a lifetime in the customer service industry but found her niche in real estate. Each transaction is different from one day to the next, which always makes it exciting, and she learns something new almost every day. Carolyn is also E-pro Certified.

How is the tax bill of a home determined in North Carolina?
Real property is appraised at 100% of market value and includes land, buildings, structures, and improvements. State law requires counties to reappraise every eight years, but many counties reappraise every four. A bill can be a combination of tax rates. For example, a home inside the City of Asheville and Asheville City School districts will have three separate tax rates represented on a bill: the Buncombe County rate, the City of Asheville rate, and the Asheville City School rate. All rates are totaled to calculate the total tax liability. Tax rate estimates for our mountain communities can be found on page 127 of the Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks Welcome magazine.
