Candy Bearman
About Me
When it was time once again to spread my wings, I traded oceanside for mountainside and landed here. My loves in life are priceless: coffee and porch mornings at 3,000 feet above sea level with my husband Brian, who composes and produces electronic music. I am a proud mom of a German shepherd, who is a frisbee maniac and otherwise either busy or misbehaving. Travel will always be my friend, but adventuring right here in Western North Carolina is second to none. Whether you're buying or selling a home, let’s work together at making the next leg of your journey the best one yet.
Experience
I understand Value. My experience in appraisal preparation and risk assessment for the largest finance and insurance companies in the country, right here in our local Western North Carolina market, has readied me to put my expert eye for detail and attention to work for you.
Assets like natural landscapes, meals shared at home with your family, or a good night’s sleep in your very own bed—how do you price these things?
As a former career International and Special Assignment Flight Attendant, working with the NFL, NBA, and US Military, I spent years exploring art and architecture all over the world. Mt. Fuji is something to see, but somehow it still pales in comparison to our layers of blue and green, the soft slopes of home. I can personally attest to how valuable of a place Asheville is, but I'm guessing you already know that.
Seeking the finest in master craftsmanship, or a funky eclectic home with exceptional character? After I touched down, I spent years working on the island of Nantucket for a builder, designer, and restorer of luxury and historic homes.
That's where I learned what a generational asset a home can be, both in the terms of investment and happiness. That's where I helped homeowners facilitate their dreams, watching master craftsmen plane our forest’s resources to build intricate parquet floors and graceful curving staircases. That's where I decided I wanted to become a full-time real estate agent, helping homes find their people and people find their homes.
Testimonials
Candy Bearman came highly recommended to me by a friend and a previous client of hers who both indicated to me that she was very capable at handling complex situations, was no-nonsense and easy going at the same time -- all of which I found to be true. Candy went above and beyond to help make a daunting process as smooth as possible, and made the long-distance sale stress-free by offering to help in any way she could at every turn. Candy was very sympathetic to the sensitive nature of the situation (an estate sale) and was very patient, pleasant, and professional in the face of complex family dynamics during an emotional time. Candy accessed her trove of resources and managed everything we needed, from hiring a professional cleaning service and repairmen, removing unwanted furniture, and organizing beautiful staging, flowers and photography. Everything went like clockwork in spite of the down market, high interest rates, off-season and end-of-year holidays -- a real testament to all Candy's hard work and efforts on our behalf!

Very patient, always considerate and really showed she was listening to us as individuals. She went above and beyond in every question or uncertainty we presented. She even found top recommended inspectors and service people. Very adaptable with our schedules and accommodating with 2 granddaughters being with us through several meetings. Couldn't ask for a better realtor. Thank you so much for everything!

We have bought and sold around 20 homes in our lives and dealt with many different brokers in the process. Candy Bearman stood tall above the other brokers we had used. Living in Florida during the purchase and inspection process, we were not able to attend personally to a number of things. Candy was the first broker we had who went out of her way to personally be present and fill in for us. Thanks Candy

We have purchased several properties throughout the country and honestly, Candy has been by far, the best relator we have ever dealt with. She has been extremely helpful and advocated in our best interest. Candy made sure everything was completed as we asked throughout the entire purchase process. Candy ensured the transaction went seamlessly. We are very grateful she is our relator for the Asheville area.

How is the tax bill of a home determined in North Carolina?
Real property is appraised at 100% of market value and includes land, buildings, structures, and improvements. State law requires counties to reappraise every eight years, but many counties reappraise every four. A bill can be a combination of tax rates. For example, a home inside the City of Asheville and Asheville City School districts will have three separate tax rates represented on a bill: the Buncombe County rate, the City of Asheville rate, and the Asheville City School rate. All rates are totaled to calculate the total tax liability. Tax rate estimates for our mountain communities can be found on page 127 of the Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks Welcome magazine.
