I know a lot about moving—and about providing caring professional, empathetic services-and the real estate profession-the critical efforts needed and the numerous ultra-important processes and services needed to succeed for my Valued Clients, as well as the excitement to be in your next place or to have your property listed, aggressively marketed, offers received and negotiated, continual follow up on the due diligence period, inspections, mortgage follow up, all leading to sold & closed at top $ market value & best sales terms. 

I was born in Cleveland, Ohio, where my parents taught me the need for manners, respect, a sincere concern and empathy for others, for having an honest and strong work ethic, placing others' interests before my own when applicable, such as when acting as a Seller's or Buyer's Agent, and the value and respect of being on time. I first went to college at Kent State University, and then returned to Cleveland to continue my education at Cuyahoga College. I decided to become a professional pilot, so I packed my belongings, said goodbye to my parents and friends, and drove to Daytona Beach, Florida with unbelievable excitement and visions of my future in aviation. At Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, I completed the professional pilot program. Then, I moved to New Jersey for my first aviation position at the Teterboro Airport pilot training center. In that position, I trained a variety of individuals: television actors from New York City, local school teachers and college professors, stock brokers, truck drivers, corporate middle and upper management individuals, two NYC politicians, and a few international television and movie actors. I also hosted my own cable television show on New York Cable.

  • After slightly more than a year, I accepted another flight training position with Flight Safety International at their LaGuardia Airport and Teterboro, New Jersey Pilot Training Centers for the Falcon Jet Program. I worked with the aircraft manufacturer’s test pilots, numerous U.S. Fortune 500 and international corporate pilots, national and international military pilots, and one fantastic European Formula One racing star who became a friend, Air America, and the United States President's pilots. Throughout my career, I learned to listen intently to the questions that these various professionals asked, observe their specific needs, and, most importantly, to provide solutions to their needs to enable them to perform to their highest levels, to grow in their profession, and make their lives “easier” while maximizing their skills and safety in aviation. I also developed multiple friendships worldwide that I still treasure.

Even with all of the “glamour,” I grew tired of living out of a suitcase and staying in hotels, away from family. So, in 1977, I obtained my real estate license and worked as a real estate professional in northern New Jersey. I held a variety of positions, including the marketing and sales of residential real estate resale properties, commercial real estate marketing and sales, new home sales and sales team management and community/subdivision development, commercial property marketing and sales, extensive corporate relocation, REO (bank-owned properties) marketing & sales, sales team coaching/management, and training. In 2003, I took a position with a large developer/builder in Fort Myers, Florida, with their new homes sales group. Then in 2006 I was offered a position with another developer/builder and became the VP of Sales & Marketing for the entire South Florida Region .

And, in 2005, after 15 years of research to find “the right place in the mountains of North Carolina,” my wife, Jane, and I chose Waynesville for its friendly, slower-paced lifestyle, the amazing outdoors, its awesome mountain views, unique & charming Main Street, and the area’s surrounding beauty, and communities nearby including Lake Junaluska, Crabtree, Clyde, Asheville, Leicester and Arden.

When I am not assisting my Valued Clients fulfill their real estate dreams, you'll find Jane and I enjoying the outdoors, typically at the fantastic Waynesville Recreation/Fitness Center, or kayaking at tranquil Lake Junaluska, watching the elk in Cataloochee Valley. or hiking in the Pisgah Forest. I also enjoy taking a soothing walk along Jonathan Creek beside the Maggie Valley Country Club with our German Shepherd, Baxter, or stopping at the fabulous viewpoints along the Blue Ridge Parkway and taking it all in, or walking along Main Street in Waynesville watching the people, both locals and visitors, seeing what movie is playing at The Strand, having a cup of espresso and looking in the windows of the shops.

My favorite indoor pastimes are cooking with my family and relaxing with a current movie with my wife, Jane, reading a book or article of interest, or watching television reruns of “Boston Legal.” Service to the community and continued personal growth, including always improving my real estate skills and knowledge to enable me to deliver nothing less than the finest, caring services available, and further enriching my life and people skills and knowledge. I am wonderfully assisted by the awesome staff members of the Waynesville Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks office, the NAI Commercial Real Estate Group within Beverly-HANKS, and also the corporate marketing team at Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks & Associates, and my fabulous Gary's TEAM members who enable me to provide the highest level of services.
