About Me

A native North Carolinian with a Midwestern upbringing, Gene was born in Raleigh, NC and raised outside Chicago, IL. Tired of Chicago winters, Gene moved back to his home state in 2009. He is a graduate of St. John's College - Santa Fe with a B.A. in Classics. Gene is also a professionally-trained opera singer, attending the Chicago College of Performing Arts - Music Conservatory. He is an avid cyclist, tennis enthusiast, and writer; and enjoys floating or hiking down the many beautiful rivers, lakes, and trails of Western North Carolina!

Along with being one of the top producing agents at Beverly-Hanks, Gene comes from a family of North Carolina real estate brokers and has over 10 years of Real Estate, Service, and Sales experience under his belt. He is an outstanding listener with a talent for clear and concise communication. Gene also learned the value of hard work at an early age, spending summers on his grandparent's Piedmont-area farm. Motivated and passionate, Gene looks forward to assisting you with your real estate needs in Western North Carolina.

Is there a best time of the year to buy a house?

When it comes to buying a home, there are pros and cons for each season. Generally, the best season to buy a home is in late summer or fall. There are still plenty of homes for sale, but without the intense competition found during spring. Sellers are also known for being a bit more flexible this time of the year. Zillow reports that the highest number of listings with at least one price reduction are found August–September. However, the deeper buyers venture into fall, the less choice is available. If you value choice, and you want more buyers competing for the home you are leaving, spring could be your best season. Ultimately, the best time to buy a home is when you’re financially ready to do so.
