About Me
I am a third generation native of Asheville. I graduated from Western Carolina University in 1990 and immediately started working in sales in marketing for Biltmore Estate. My husband, Keith, and I were high school sweethearts and married in 1997. I grew up in Asheville, as did Keith. In 1999 we moved slightly southeast of Asheville to an area called Fairview. We must love it because we are still here! We raised a daughter and son who have both spread their wings and now live in Knoxville TN and Salt Lake City UT.
I am a lover of all dogs, but my absolute favorite is a Golden Retriever. I enjoy flower and vegetable gardening, hiking with my dogs, jeep rides with the tops and doors off and of course any type of home improvement. Vacationing at the beach is always a welcome respite, but there is nothing like coming back home to the mountains of Western North Carolina.
Experience
I started my real estate career in 2004 after working for Biltmore Estate for 13 years. I have worked exclusively for Beverly-Hanks and value the professional and personal growth that I have gained while working for The Best of the Best. Real estate is not just a passion for me, it's become quite an obsession. I'm guilty of talking about real estate most of my "awake hours". I have many lifelong friends who are also real estate agents and we often wonder what we used to talk about before we sold real estate. My drive to be successful has landed me in the coveted Chairman's Club and President's Club at Beverly-Hanks for many years. My business partner is Sandra Justus and is also known as my mother. And like most mothers, she taught me everything I know!

Ask An Expert
How is the tax bill of a home determined in North Carolina?
Real property is appraised at 100% of market value and includes land, buildings, structures, and improvements. State law requires counties to reappraise every eight years, but many counties reappraise every four. A bill can be a combination of tax rates. For example, a home inside the City of Asheville and Asheville City School districts will have three separate tax rates represented on a bill: the Buncombe County rate, the City of Asheville rate, and the Asheville City School rate. All rates are totaled to calculate the total tax liability. Tax rate estimates for our mountain communities can be found on page 127 of the Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks Welcome magazine.
