About Me
Prior to joining Walnut Cove Realty, I was the Corporate Director of Owner Relations for Peppertree Resorts, LTD and owned/operated a restaurant in southern Indiana. Unbeknownst to me at the time, my restaurant would be the method by which I met the love of my life, Jennifer, with whom I have been married since 1998. We have three children who keep us moving in multiple directions simultaneously, challenging the very laws of physics.
When I am not assisting clients or spending time with my family (including our labradoodle), you may find me out cycling on one of the many beautiful roads that grace our local area.
I graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1988 and love Notre Dame football. Even more so, I love the university and its beautiful campus. While I don't make the trip there often as I like, doing so always represents a sort of homecoming for me. I’m involved with several local charitable organizations including Asheville Catholic School, where all of our children have attended, the Parish of St. Eugene, Homeward Bound, and Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry (ABCCM), to name a few.
Experience
With more than 20 years of real estate experience in resorts and luxury real estate, I specialize in The Cliffs at Walnut Cove, with regular forays into other parts of Western North Carolina. As one of the original team members who launched The Cliffs at Walnut Cove in 2002, my love for this community runs deep and I’ve helped untold numbers of clients buy and sell some of the most beautiful real estate in Western North Carolina.
My passion for real estate is fueled by helping people realize their dreams. Whether my clients are seeking to buy or sell a home or a homesite, my deep knowledge of this community and its nuances inures to their benefit. I believe the expression that "People don't care what you know until they know that you care."

Ask An Expert
How is the tax bill of a home determined in North Carolina?
Real property is appraised at 100% of market value and includes land, buildings, structures, and improvements. State law requires counties to reappraise every eight years, but many counties reappraise every four. A bill can be a combination of tax rates. For example, a home inside the City of Asheville and Asheville City School districts will have three separate tax rates represented on a bill: the Buncombe County rate, the City of Asheville rate, and the Asheville City School rate. All rates are totaled to calculate the total tax liability. Tax rate estimates for our mountain communities can be found on page 127 of the Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks Welcome magazine.
