About Me
If you are planning a move to our state, you could not have made a more excellent choice in considering the majestic country of Western North Carolina. I spent half my life in South Florida enjoying the beautiful tropical beaches and sunny days. I then decided to experience the four seasons of northern New Hampshire. After years of four-foot snow and below-zero winters, my husband and I discovered the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We have never looked back!
Living in WNC's four distinct seasons allows us the perfect lifestyle that includes a colorful fall and just the right amount of snow. My husband and I now spend more time outside walking in the parks and exploring waterfalls, Saturday farmers markets, and small towns that bring us back in time. I pursue my love for flower gardening, photography, kayaking, and time in my studio to express my creative side. I have a strong faith in the Lord, and I am involved with church and community volunteering.

It has been said, "The road to success is always under construction." This is certainly true for me. Little did I know my beginnings in customer service for a major corporation, and then a decade-long career in residential appraising would prepare me for a successful career in real estate. My passions for working with people, listening carefully, and seeing beyond a problem to an end solution enhance my ability to bring my clients where they want to be.
Buying and selling property can be a roller-coaster ride. I have made it my mission to smooth out that ride and add value to the real estate experience. How is the tax bill of a home determined in North Carolina?
Real property is appraised at 100% of market value and includes land, buildings, structures, and improvements. State law requires counties to reappraise every eight years, but many counties reappraise every four. A bill can be a combination of tax rates. For example, a home inside the City of Asheville and Asheville City School districts will have three separate tax rates represented on a bill: the Buncombe County rate, the City of Asheville rate, and the Asheville City School rate. All rates are totaled to calculate the total tax liability. Tax rate estimates for our mountain communities can be found on page 127 of the Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks Welcome magazine.
