What is the “typical” home buyers are purchasing?

Each year, the National Association of Realtors® reports its insights into the characteristics of the homes purchased across the United States the previous year. Last year, 83% of the homes purchased were detached single family homes. There was only a median of 12 miles between the homes that recent buyers purchased and the homes that they moved from. Heating and cooling costs were the most important environmental features for recent buyers, with 84% finding these features at least somewhat important. For buyers 36 years and younger, commuting costs were more important than heating and cooling costs at 39% and 31% respectively. For buyers 36 years and younger, the expected length of time they plan to remain in the home they purchased was only 10 years, compared to 20 years for buyers 52–61 years.

Margo was very professional and helpful in our search for land. Upon meeting us, she took some time to get to know us and figure out or needs and wants in regards to the property we desired. Margo then took this information and came up with the best options for us and met us at every property to look them over with us. She answered every question we could come up with and if she didn't know the answer right away she would find it out for us. Margo was very pleasant to deal with and made the decision process and all final processes very quick and easy. We would recommend her to anyone and would definitely want to have her as our agent in the future!

We had an excellent initial experience with Margot Sutton - she was very receptive to considering what we wanted in a house (and we had rather strong ideas alongthose lines); we found her to be attentive, friendly, straight-forward and non-pushy. Therefore after our first expedition we decided we would like to keep her as our agent. With Margots help we found a unique house remarkably suited to our preferences. Negotiations were complex because of multiple basic fixes needed for the house to be in move-in condition, in addition to the required extensive paperwork. Throughout the negotiations Margot was cheerful, patient, and enthusiastic. She showed exceptional commitment to taking care of small details that are nevertheless important. Buying the house was very rewarding, after viewing multiple other houses (on a tight schedule) that were not suitable for us even though on paper they would seem to satisfy our criteria. We rate Margot Sutton very highly. If she did not know something she would consult some one within the agency with more experience, so knowledge thereby acquired was excellent. Office was fine and welcoming, but our experience was so limited that I could not offer a rating higher than "good". Since I am strongly nature oriented (as a botany professor) I particularly appreciated dealing with Margot Sutton who was an Environmental Studies major at UNC Asheville. She even sent us a photo mosses and lichens on a rock on the property we eventually bought, as part of a cell-phone video tour of the house, a home-made production that helped introduce me to and prepare for our home of choice.

We were fairly definite about what we wanted and Margot made it easy to explore properties. In the end, it was a property she was familiar with, which was a little outside our original definition, that we bought. It is just that kind of insider knowledge and pro-active stance that makes Margot an excellent broker. She is very professional, she's patient and she is highly energetic. She never makes you think you are bothering her or minds repeating herself. I don't think you can go wrong with Margot.
