How important are single women buyers to the real estate market?
Women drive the lion’s share of home buying decisions. Although women account for 85% of all purchases, according to a study completed by Yankelovich Monitor & Greenfield, women drive 91% of new home decisions. When marketing homes, we should pay attention to what matters most to women. Redfin interviewed 1,000 Americans for their preferences when buying a home and then segmented their responses by gender. Highlights: being close to good schools is 6.6% more important to women than men, the number of bedrooms was 6.7% more important to women than men, and the estimated resale value was 3.6% more important to women than men. In fact the only item more important to men than women was the amount of exterior maintenance.

My husband and I have bought and sold 3 homes in 3 different areas in the past 5 years. Mary is top notch as far as agents go and I'd say we have the highest of standards (my parents are agents in CT; I know what good and bad agents look like!). Mary is a true gem. She is pleasant, helpful, and thinks outside of the box. She was extremely patient with us (we ended up in a short term rental after moving here in November). Mary and I looked at probably every house in Arden, Fletcher, Asheville, and Weaverville in the $350,000-$500,000 price range that came on October - March. That was no small feat on her part. And she did it all with a smile on her face and never a feeling like we were annoying her. She listened to our wants and needs, helped us settle down the areas were were interested in, tried to get us into properties that were not on the MLS yet, and worked hard on staying in touch with the For Sale By Owner home we ultimately ended up buying. She also had to deal with a challenging agent on the seller's side.
