Matthew Rice
About Me
I am a local born-and-raised resident of Asheville, North Carolina and enjoy every bit of living in Western North Carolina. I graduated with a bachelors degree from Appalachian State University, majoring in Business Management and double minoring in Advanced Entrepreneurship and Supply Chain Management.
While in college, I become an EMT-Basic and volunteered as a first responder with the county's rescue squad. I've always enjoyed helping people which is why I love real estate - I'm able to continue to help people every day, just in a different way!
In my free time, you'll often find me at church or on a golf course somewhere. My faith is an important part of who I am - it's the core of what I base my life around and I'm very grateful for new opportunities to serve the community everyday! Golfing is my favorite way to spend time off and ease the mind, even though my score card might not be able to reflect it. I also spend time fishing, hunting, snowboarding, or spending quality time with friends or family. Pretty much anything outdoors you can count me in!
Experience
Real estate is something that has always been in my blood. Having been raised with a father who developed the premier neighborhood, Poplar Ridge, and a mother who has 15+ years of real estate experience, it's something I have been around as long as I can remember. Being able to take that generational wisdom and apply it to serving my clients has been a great benefit and blessing in developing the realtor that I am today. I am driven for success with a strong work ethic, willing to go above and beyond for my clients in ensuring that they are highly satisfied with the entire process from start to finish.
As an employee of Inspired Getaway, a local property management company, I have been able to obtain a great amount of connections and experience in multiple facets of real estate. Whether it be investment properties, a primary residence, or anything in between, I've been blessed to absorb so much knowledge that continues to help me better serve my clients with smooth, winning transactions no matter the need.

Ask An Expert
Is there a best time of the year to buy a house?
When it comes to buying a home, there are pros and cons for each season. Generally, the best season to buy a home is in late summer or fall. There are still plenty of homes for sale, but without the intense competition found during spring. Sellers are also known for being a bit more flexible this time of the year. Zillow reports that the highest number of listings with at least one price reduction are found August–September. However, the deeper buyers venture into fall, the less choice is available. If you value choice, and you want more buyers competing for the home you are leaving, spring could be your best season. Ultimately, the best time to buy a home is when you’re financially ready to do so.
