Nancy has spent her entire career in service to her clients with a professional approach to real estate. She has built homes and helped her clients remodel homes all over Western North Carolina.
Nancy is a North Carolina native who grew up in Georgia among a large and extended family. She graduated from Wesleyan College in Macon, GA with a degree in Education and began her career on the campus of Wesleyan College in Admissions. A year later, she received a call to join the Admissions Office of Brevard College in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. One look was all it took for Nancy to decide that Western North Carolina would become home.
A few years later, Nancy began a successful and rewarding executive sales career in advertising. She is a sales professional and her strong negotiating skills are a tremendous benefit to her buyers and sellers. Her outstanding communication skills and ability to listen to a client's needs make her invaluable in the real estate transaction process. Nancy has been a full time realtor since 2004. She has expertise in residential sales, luxury properties, land development and commercial sales.
Nancy has also spent years as a community volunteer in the local schools and children's organizations. She currently serves on the board of the Steadfast House/Transformation Village, a shelter for homeless women and children. She is also a Read to Succeed Volunteer in the Buncombe County School system. Nancy's greatest joy in life is spending time with her children and their families. She and her husband, a retired college professor, are very proud parents of four successful children. The current loves of their lives are five adorable grands! Norm, Nancy's husband, is also the owner of the largest summer running camp in the nation for high school students, the Brevard Distance Runners Camp.

We live in eastern Virginia and met Nancy Witek through Brevard College athletics. We tossed around an idea to purchase a vacation home in Brevard. If it wasn’t for Nancy, I doubt we would have considered purchasing a home in Brevard. With her on our team, I knew we could do something great. We spoke with Nancy Witek about our desires and budget about 2 years ago. We were specific on our location and had some flexibility in other things. We preferred an older traditional home and we wanted a large porch. In the spring of 2020 we put this search on hold. But then in march 2021, one came up. Nancy was very quick to visit this home and provide us great videos and additional pictures. Nancy did the work without us being there. Her enthusiasm for the home over the phone was very contagious. After the phone call we could tell this was a serious contender. It took me about 20 hours to make this home a priority and to get serious about it. For those 20 hours I continued to process Nancys enthusiasm for the property. So I moved everything on my packed schedule and I drove down a day or so later. During this time someone else put a contract on the home. Once I saw this home in person, I was blown away. It checked all of the boxes, And then some. It has serious curb appeal, it’s in a great location, it was priced right , it has a large fenced yard for our puppy and much more. But someone beat us to the punch. We were slightly deflated but still hopeful. Nancy suggested we put in a backup contract and we did. She said something like “hang tight because things may change”. I certainly lost sleep for those 2 weeks waiting to see what the other buyer would do. This is an extremely rare 110 year old completely restored home that was perfect for us. I knew my bride needed to see this home whether we bought it or not so we all made plans to travel there to see it. When my wife saw the home for the first time she was speechless. It was a moment I will never forget. Nancy eventually called us on the phone and shared the good news that we moved into first position. My wife, our kids, and our puppy were jumping for joy. Yes we were all cheering like we just won a national championship football game. It was quite a celebration that night for all 6 of us. It really was and still is something special for us to see this dream come together. It’s a wonderful property. In a bad economy, Nancy went out of her way to draw attention to our listing, having open houses and cocktail parties for other agents so our house would get the exposure it needed to sell. If it wasn’t for Nancy, I doubt we would have considered purchasing a home in Brevard. With her on our team, I knew we could do something great. We spoke with Nancy Witek about our desires and budget about 2 years ago. We were specific on our location and had some flexibility in other things. We preferred an older traditional home and we wanted a large porch. In the spring of 2020 we put this search on hold. But then in march 2021, one came up. Nancy was very quick to visit this home and provide us great videos and additional pictures. Nancy did the work without us being there. Her enthusiasm for the home over the phone was very contagious. After the phone call we could tell this was a serious contender. It took me about 20 hours to make this home a priority and to get serious about it. For those 20 hours I continued to process Nancys enthusiasm for the property. So I moved everything on my packed schedule and I drove down a day or so later. During this time someone else put a contract on the home. Once I saw this home in person, I was blown away. It checked all of the boxes, And then some. It has serious curb appeal, it’s in a great location, it was priced right , it has a large fenced yard for our puppy and much more. But someone beat us to the punch. We were slightly deflated but still hopeful. Nancy suggested we put in a backup contract and we did. She said something like “hang tight because things may change”. I certainly lost sleep for those 2 weeks waiting to see what the other buyer would do. This is an extremely rare 110 year old completely restored home that was perfect for us. I knew my bride needed to see this home whether we bought it or not so we all made plans to travel there to see it. When my wife saw the home for the first time she was speechless. It was a moment I will never forget. Nancy eventually called us on the phone and shared the good news that we moved into first position. My wife, our kids, and our puppy were jumping for joy. Yes we were all cheering like we just won a national championship football game. It was quite a celebration that night for all 6 of us. It really was and still is something special for us to see this dream come together. It’s a wonderful property. How is the tax bill of a home determined in North Carolina?
Real property is appraised at 100% of market value and includes land, buildings, structures, and improvements. State law requires counties to reappraise every eight years, but many counties reappraise every four. A bill can be a combination of tax rates. For example, a home inside the City of Asheville and Asheville City School districts will have three separate tax rates represented on a bill: the Buncombe County rate, the City of Asheville rate, and the Asheville City School rate. All rates are totaled to calculate the total tax liability. Tax rate estimates for our mountain communities can be found on page 127 of the Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks Welcome magazine.
