That was fortunate for us because Tom was a really great "fit" for our needs. Tom DeCarlo's knowledge of the area, communities, and properties was a huge asset for us. We were living in Michigan when we started working with Tom (2013) and had only visited this area twice before deciding to relocate here (our son moved to Asheville in 2012). Tom helped us define the type of community we were looking for and identified several that would suit us and our budget. We toured the communities and were shown numerous homes within them. Tom was knowledgeable of the communities and was provided great advice regarding the pluses and minuses of the individual homes we looked at. Among the communities we considered were High Vista and Cummings Cove. Although Tom lives in High Vista, he objectively rated some of Cummings Cove's attributes as superior to those of High Vista. We eventually chose a home in Cummings Cove. A fair price was negotiated but subsequently Tom was able to save us over $5000 via the due diligence/inspection process. We were unable to come down from Michigan for the inspection and Tom volunteered to accompany the inspector. The inspection lasted over three hours and Tom learned first hand of several costly deficiencies (among them radon, a leaky water heater, and windows with bad seals). He negotiated the sellers covering the costs of mitigating the deficiencies, as well as securing a one year homeowners insurance policy. Since we were totally unfamiliar with this area, Tom was also extremely helpful in recommending mortgage providers and a attorney to handle the closing. Tom is very knowledgeable, professional, and has a great personality. He was truly wonderful and easy to work with. In addition to real estate matters, Tom was also extremely helpful in answering/finding answers to several income and personal property tax issues and other matters that were of concern to us.

In the end, the home sold in record time and without a hitch. While the sale of mom's home was bittersweet for the family, Tom made the job a whole lot easier. This sale was complicated by the fact that the estate was in probate and one of the heirs lived out-of-state. Tom did the research and legwork to bring it all together under a short deadline and the house was closed a week earlier than expected. The family never saw him get flustered, even when we were! You couldn't ask to meet a nicer guy, and I expect him to progress quickly in his career.
