What do women want in a new home versus men?
Women control or influence 85% of all consumer spending, including 91% of new home purchases, according to Forbes and Yankelovich Monitor & Greenfield Online. When marketing your home for sale, we should pay attention to what matters most to women. In a recent interview of 1,000 Americans, women were more likely to be concerned with a home's interior layout (5.0%), square footage (5.1%), and the number of bedrooms (6.7%) and bathrooms (5.2%) than men. Women are also more interested in being close to good schools (6.6%), neighborhood safety (4.8%), and resale value (3.6%). In fact, the only item more important to men than women was the amount of exterior maintenance (5.1%).
