Do you know what your kids were up to this afternoon?
Western North Carolina’s public and private schools consistently rank among the state’s best. So, you can be sure that your children are getting great instruction each morning. But for many kids, learning doesn’t end with the final bell. Our region also hosts a wide range of after-school programs, from academic to athletic pursuits and everything in between.
If you’re looking for a great after-school program, it can be difficult to know which will be the best fit for your children. Luckily, many of our agents are parents and experts in area after-school programs, in addition to being experts in neighborhood real estate.
We asked them: Who offers the best after-school programs in WNC?
My son at Claxton Elementary has so enjoyed the programs at YMCA Youth Services at Beaverdam: the climbing wall, the woods with fort-building potential, the huge field, and not to miss, the chickens. He’s even been called “the chicken whisperer”!
Nothing is quite like the camaraderie of a team and building confidence through flipping to victory! OSEGA Gymnastics in Fletcher keeps kids active after school with acrobatics, ninja, and recreational classes every day of the week.
Charlotte Street Kids is an amazing after-school program that my kids have been going to for over six years. They believe in giving kids time for some old-fashioned, unstructured play, with self-directed activities after a long six hours of school each day. They have a snack, get their homework done, and are happy each afternoon when I pick them up.
