If you’re looking for a way to both exercise and take advantage of the beauty of Western North Carolina, we have just the thing!
One of the most popular ways to live an active and healthy lifestyle is by cycling. Whether mountain or road biking, folks love to get out and take full advantage of our gorgeous terrain. In fact, National Geographic Adventure named our region a top mountain-biking destination and even said we were quickly becoming the Boulder, Colorado of the Southeast—with better riding.
Spring is the perfect time to enjoy cycling in our beautiful Blue Ridge mountains. But if you haven’t been on your bike in a while, it may need a quick tune-up before you hit the great outdoors.
Not sure the best place to get a quality bike tune-up at a good price? Luckily, our agents are experts in more than just real estate. We asked them: Where are the best local places to take your bike for a tune-up?

Epic Cycles in Black Mountain is a great local shop specializing in everything bicycles. Owner Alan Hightower is available and eager to help his customers.
I recommend The Hub in Pisgah Forest, close to the entrance to Pisgah National Forest and next to the Davidson River. Not only can you get a bike tune-up, but you can get a beer and food from several different food trucks, then go to Dolly’s and get ice cream. What a day!
I always take my bike for a tune-up at Sycamore Cycles at the corner of King Street and Third Avenue in downtown Hendersonville. No appointment needed.
I have enjoyed years of very positive experience with Liberty Bicycles in South Asheville. They are very professional and knowledgeable, and they treat you like family.
My choice would be The Hub in Brevard. It’s a great outdoor shop with an excellent service department, close to some of the best mountain biking in WNC. The best part, if your tune-up or repair bill is higher than expected—Oh yes, they have a bar to help ease the pain!
Adventure Cycles is located in Saluda at the pinnacle of two favorite street rides and amidst many mountain bike trails. Whether you are riding up Highway 176 along the Saluda Grade, coming up the Greeneville Watershed, or coursing through the forests, Adventure Cycles is ready to serve your biking needs! Chris offers full tune-ups and repairs for both street and mountain bikes. Happy trails!
As an avid cyclist, I have been taking my family’s bikes to Motion Makers Bicycle Shop since 2003. As a bike racer (sometimes a bike crasher), I frequently need repairs, and they are so willing to get me back on the trail or road as soon as possible. The staff are always so helpful and friendly regardless of one’s skill level. I used Motion Makers in Sylva for many years, but was so happy when they opened a store in Asheville. During racing season, they feel like family!
