Epic Cycles in Black Mountain is a great local shop specializing in everything bicycles. Owner Alan Hightower is available and eager to help his customers.
I recommend The Hub in Pisgah Forest, close to the entrance to Pisgah National Forest and next to the Davidson River. Not only can you get a bike tune-up, but you can get a beer and food from several different food trucks, then go to Dolly’s and get ice cream. What a day!
I always take my bike for a tune-up at Sycamore Cycles at the corner of King Street and Third Avenue in downtown Hendersonville. No appointment needed.
I have enjoyed years of very positive experience with Liberty Bicycles in South Asheville. They are very professional and knowledgeable, and they treat you like family.
My choice would be The Hub in Brevard. It’s a great outdoor shop with an excellent service department, close to some of the best mountain biking in WNC. The best part, if your tune-up or repair bill is higher than expected—Oh yes, they have a bar to help ease the pain!

As an avid cyclist, I have been taking my family’s bikes to Motion Makers Bicycle Shop since 2003. As a bike racer (sometimes a bike crasher), I frequently need repairs, and they are so willing to get me back on the trail or road as soon as possible. The staff are always so helpful and friendly regardless of one’s skill level. I used Motion Makers in Sylva for many years, but was so happy when they opened a store in Asheville. During racing season, they feel like family!
