Agents Answer: What are the Best Local Sports Teams and Leagues in WNC?

In Western North Carolina, there is no shortage of individual and team sports to try and cheer! Our communities have everything from casual league sports to professional teams and athletes.

If you are a sports enthusiast, chances are you’re already following a team in your favorite sport. Or even joining in on a team yourself! But if you’re ready to get into a new sport entirely, it can often be difficult to know where to begin. Luckily, our agents have a wide variety of sports interests and can offer some advice.

We asked them: What is your favorite local amateur sports league or professional/semi-pro sports team in WNC?

What is better than a little competition mixed with socializing and getting fit? USTA’s tennis league in Western North Carolina is so much fun. All levels of tennis are played throughout the season beginning in March and ending in October. If you are looking for a team, call Roger at the Asheville Racquet Club South and he will hook you up! Cheers, and see you on the courts.

Asheville has so many fun things to do, but one of my favorites is to attend an Asheville Tourists game at McCormick Field. Just a short walk from Downtown Asheville, the Tourists have something for everyone. Whether you are a baseball fan, a foodie, young or old, you will have a memorable time at McCormick Field. Don’t miss this Asheville tradition, whether you are a local or just visiting our great city.

I’m a golf enthusiast and member of the Asheville Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Or a more apropos name is “Ladies Professional Golf Enthusiasts”. We amateur golfers play weekly all around Western North Carolina, and many of us would play daily if we could. This week, the Ladies will be at Crooked Creek in Hendersonville. Yes, we have a creek that runs through this flat course in Hendersonville. It’s a fun course, the staff are super kind, and unless there’s a tournament, you can almost always get a tee time. This is one of the local favorites for our amateur sports golf league!
