Why fight the traffic, parking, and crowds of Asheville’s disparate brewery scene? Just a few minutes to the north, the friendly small town of Weaverville has discovered the best way to keep up with Asheville’s craft beer frenzy. They have concentrated three breweries and a bottle shop right off Main Street!

If you’re looking for a relaxing day of enjoying fine local beer, we know just the places. Here’s how to craft your perfect beer day in Weaverville, NC.

Get a Good Breakfast in Your Belly @ Well-Bred Bakery

Everyone knows the worst way to start a day of drinking (even well-paced, responsible drinking) is with an empty stomach. Luckily for you, Weaverville is home to a variety of delicious restaurant options. For a truly remarkable start to your day, we recommend Well-Bred Bakery. Even though they’re open all day, their breakfast options should not be missed. Enjoy sweet and savory breakfast treats, signature cookies, or a selection of fine pastries, including their signature chocolate eclairs, with a locally roasted coffee.

Break Your Thirst @ Eluvium Brewing Co.

Take the side street at Well-Bred, and you’ll immediately spot Eluvium Brewing Co. This small brewery is dedicated to producing high quality, high flavor session beers—making it a great location to start your beer day in Weaverville. They’re on a quest to find gold (or gold-medal-worthy beers), and named themselves after the first gold deposits discovered in America. Today, you can find 10 golden beers on tap. They also serve cider and wine, and they have some alcohol-free drinks available for those pacing their beer day experience.

Thrill Your Tastebuds @ Zebulon Artisan Ales

Whether you’re a fan of explorer Zebulon Pike or the USS Zebulon from Star Trek, we can all agree that “Zebulon” is a cool name. Zebulon focuses their brews on Belgian and French farmhouse styles, as well as historical, forgotten, and mythological beers. Whatever style you choose, you’ll discover it’s unlike anything else you will find around. Much of their beer is oak-barrel aged with wild yeasts to develop complex flavors. You do have to plan your beer day around Zebulon’s limited weekend hours, but it’s well worth the effort. While you’re there, schedule a group tour of their facilities.

Take a Break @ Lake Louise Park

If it’s a nice day, let those beers settle as you enjoy the fresh mountain air! The Town of Weaverville maintains Lake Louise Park, a hub of local recreation. Picnic tables and shelters, outdoor grills, a playground, and a walking trail surround the small lake. It’s one of our favorite spots for family and community events, exercise, and romantic strolls.

If you’re in the mood to head back to the main drag, don’t miss the walking trails that run through Main Street Nature Park. This park consists of 7.54 acres of local flora and fauna behind the Weaverville Town Hall. From there, it’s easy to shop Main Street Weaverville for a unique selection of easily walkable art galleries and fun retail shops.

Fill Your Plate @ Blue Mountain Pizza & Brew Pub

Between the fine craft beers and the walk around the lake, you’re bound to work up an appetite. Luckily, the last brewery of the day is also a family-friendly neighborhood spot known first for their pizza. Blue Mountain Pizza & Brew Pub uses fresh ingredients to make their pizza dough in house, and it shows. Pair a pie with one of their small-batch craft beers, and you have the ingredients for a great meal! Enjoy live music, or join in on open mic nights. A bowl of homemade ice cream on their famous brownie sundae is your cherry on top of a memorable evening!

Take Some Beer to Go @ Maggie B’s

If you’re not ready for your perfect Weaverville beer day to end, Maggie B’s has what you need to take the party with you. Maggie B’s Wine and Specialty Store sells wine, beer, meats, cheeses, wine accessories, and a little of everything else. They also offer a great selection of wine and beer by the glass. Don’t miss their full-service cheese counter for aged French cheddar, Argentine Reggianito, marinated fresh mozzarella balls, and local selections. Plan to visit on Fridays for free wine and beer tastings in an informative, fun, and non-intimidating atmosphere.
