Here are a few upcoming WNC events where you can spot the Beverly-Hanks team:
4th Annual Headlock on Hunger Food Drive
When: Wednesday, July 11 | 7:00am–7:00pm
Where: Ingles, 29 Tunnel Road, Asheville
What: Beverly-Hanks has joined up to collect food for Ingles’ 4th annual Headlock on Hunger food drive. The drive’s goal is to collect enough food to keep local children from going hungry during the summer when school meals are unavailable. Recommended food donation items include:
- Peanut butter.
- Instant oatmeal.
- Quick mac and cheese.
- Pop-top ravioli or spaghetti.
- Shelf-stable dinners.
- Granola bars.
- Pop Tarts.
- Can fruit.
- Pudding cups.
Drop off convenient, fulfilling, and easily prepared foods at one of the participating Beverly-Hanks offices between now and July 10. On July 11th, Beverly-Hanks agents will load their cars and deliver the donated food to the central collection point at Ingles.

Who: Benefiting local children through Eblen Charities. Eblen helps with medical assistance to children, adults, and families living in our community by providing medication, medical supplies, physician and dental visits, eye glasses, and other health care needs.

Fill This Truck, Feed a Child
When: Thursday, July 12 | 4:00–6:00pm
Where: Beverly-Hanks, 369 West US 19-E, Burnsville
What: Do your part to prevent Yancey County children from going hungry on weekends. Help us fill this truck with non-perishable food items so that Feed-a-Child Yancey has the supplies needed to serve our community. Suggested items include:
- Microwave popcorn.
- Microwave instant oatmeal.
- Microwave mac and cheese.
- Ramen noodles.
- Jell-O, pudding cups.
- Fruit, applesauce cups.
- Granola bars, oatmeal fruit bars, power bars.
- Individual cereals.
- Chips, pretzels, corn chips, Cheez-Its.
- Small tuna or chicken and cracker packages.
- Trail mix, peanuts, mixed nuts (teachers and guidance counselors have predetermined any allergies).
- Peanut butter or cheese crackers.
- Individual tubs of peanut butter.
- Small boxes of raisins.
- Individual juices (pouches, juice boxes, etc.; preferably 100% juice).
Remember: Yancey County Schools has a “zero tolerance” policy on expiration dates. Be sure that everything donated will not expire for at least three weeks.
After making your donation, we hope you’ll stay and enjoy barbecue and handmade sweets from local merchants. We are proud to support such an important community organization that is making a difference in Yancey County!
Who: Benefiting Feed-a-Child Yancey. This dedicated, local nonprofit collects and distributes food through our schools based on the recommendations of school nurses, counselors, principals, and teachers.
Feed-a-Child Yancey was founded in the fall of 2007. When they began, they fed 50 kids per week. They now serve nearly 400 students per week and have distributed more than 175,000 pounds of food since their inception. For more information about Feed-a-Child Yancey, visit feedachildyc.org.

Beverly-Hanks Karma Keg
When: Thursday, July 26 | 6:00–8:00pm
Where: Catawba Brewing Co – South Slope Tasting Room & Brewery, 32 Banks Avenue #105, Asheville
What: Our next Beverly-Hanks Karma Keg party! What makes this gathering a Karma Keg party? First, we’ll buy a keg of Catawba’s most popular brew. At the door, you can build good karma by making a donation in your favorite charity’s name. Guests who make donations will receive up to two drink tickets in exchange for the suggested $10 donation. (One donation card per attendee.)
Who: That’s up to you! At 8:00pm or when the keg kicks, we’ll select a donation card at random. Whichever local nonprofit is written on the card wins the entire evening’s proceeds. If you have a favorite community nonprofit, invite a bunch of your friends and increase the chances of your charity of choice winning the evening’s take.
