Help Us Celebrate Our Accomplished Veterans Today and Every Day

Help us celebrate our local veterans today and every day.

North Carolina is home to more than 700,000 veterans of the United States Armed Forces—that’s one in every 15 residents. But as you pass strangers in the aisles of the grocery store or colleagues in the hallways of your company, are you aware of their years of dedicated service?

Veteran’s Day is one day each year when we are actively reminded of the sacrifices men and women have made for our country. But if you ask us, it should not be the only day. This Veteran’s Day, let’s commit to learning more about our neighbors and friends, and the service and sacrifices they have made. And let’s also commit to acknowledging those brave deeds on a more regular basis.

Help us celebrate our accomplished local veterans today and every day.

Year-Round Support for Local Veterans

Luckily, there are many programs throughout WNC focused on helping and healing our veterans every day of the year. Here are just a few local veterans programs and facilities active in the region.

Charles George VA Medical Center

Charles George VA Medical Center is a 116-bed acute care facility with a separate 120-bed extended care and rehabilitation center. The facility serves more than 31,000 veterans from WNC and portions of South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia. It provides primary, tertiary, and long-term health care in areas of medicine, surgery, mental health, neurology, oncology, dentistry, ophthalmology, geriatrics, women’s health, spinal cord injury, physical medicine, and rehabilitation. Because it is a teaching hospital, the center provides a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology and programs in education and research.

Four Seasons Foundation “We Honor Veterans” Program

Those who put their lives on hold and made sacrifices to defend our country deserve honor and praise. This is especially true at the end of life. Four Seasons Foundation’s We Honor Veterans program supports the unique needs of veterans and their families during their end-of-life journeys. Trained staff and respectful community members guide veterans through their life stories, some of which are traumatic, and guide them toward a more peaceful death. In addition to compassionate care, veterans receive an American flag pin, a service branch pin, and a certificate of appreciation to commemorate their service.

U.S. Military on the MoveⓇ Program

U.S. Military on the Move® is a free real estate rebate and information program that allows active duty and retired military personnel or wounded warriors to earn cash back when they buy or sell a home. When you buy or sell a home through Military on the Move®, you’ll receive a cash rebate* based on the actual sales price of the property—not a fixed amount based on a range of values. In some cases, it is richer than most other military rebate programs.

*You must register with Military on the Move® before contacting a real estate agent and be represented by the assigned real estate firm at closing to qualify. All real estate transactions are negotiable. Other terms and conditions may apply.
