The Flat Rock Playhouse, a longtime, essential part of the Flat Rock community, is in trouble. The Playhouse is currently celebrating its 60th anniversary and wrapping up 2012 with two family-friendly holiday productions, The Nutcracker and A Celtic Christmas. They need to raise $250,000 before the end of the year to continue programming and planning for 2013, but that’s just short term – the total debt is $2.2 million. The playhouse has been hit like many arts organizations in the last few years. The productions at the playhouse have been nationally recognize in the past, and big local talent has been drawn to our area to be a part of it all. It would be a terrible loss for Henderson County and Western North Carolina as a whole to lose this quality organization.
