About Mills River

The town of Mills River is located in western Henderson County near Etowah and Fletcher. Its history goes back to the late 18th century. Many of the town’s residents are direct descendants of the original landowners and continue to own that land. Mills River incorporated in 2003 in order to have more control over development by preserving the town’s farmland, homes, and businesses. With about 6,000 residents, Mills River is the second largest town in the county.
