At Beverly-Hanks, we believe that every person in our community should have the opportunity and means to Live the Life You Choose. For many children across our region, that choice is out of their hands. That’s why CARING for Children is an important local organization. Thanks to them, more than 1,800 children and families in Asheville and Hendersonville receive necessary services every year.
What is CARING for Children?
CARING for Children always has an open door for a child in need!
Since 1975, CARING for Children has made its name its mission. Over the years, they have helped thousands of children and families in crisis. Their caring, professional staff work every day to help their neighbors find hope, safety, and a pathway to a brighter tomorrow.
CARING for Children, a program of Eckerd Connects, currently offers a diverse set of meaningful and innovative services. Some programs are fee-based, but many are free of charge. Services include:
- Residential care services.
- Foster care services.
- Outpatient mental health services.
- Family support and respite services.
What is Trinity Place?
One of the locations CARING for Children manages is Trinity Place Runaway and Homeless Youth Shelter. Located in Downtown Asheville, Trinity Place provides a safe place for up to six runaway and homeless youth aged 7–17. The short-term shelter is always open and is staffed with CARING case managers. They provide support for youth and their families with the goal of family reunification, alternative placement, or referrals to community services and other helpful resources. While in the program, youth remain in school and participate in a variety of volunteer, social justice, and educational opportunities.
Get Involved with CARING for Children
There are many ways to support the children and youth in CARING for Children programs. Many enter their programs with the clothes on their back, a few belongings in a trash bag, and nothing more. Often, not even a toothbrush. They have a wish list of supplies you can donate to support Trinity Place. You can also support foster children and parents by donating new socks, underwear, clothes, and diapers.
Get More by Giving Back
Every day, Beverly-Hanks is impressed by our agents and staff for their involvement in strengthening community efforts through service and financial support. We encourage you to get involved, too.
