Beverly-Hanks Recognized at the AFP WNC National Philanthropy Day Celebration
The local real estate firm was named a 2019 Outstanding Business in Philanthropy for their history of engagement in the community.
November 21, 2019, Asheville, NC—The Association of Fundraising Professionals Western North Carolina Chapter held a lunch at Crowne Plaza Resort Asheville on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 in celebration of National Philanthropy Day. Among the Outstanding Honorees recognized at the luncheon was Beverly-Hanks, REALTORSⓇ, who was named the Outstanding Business in Philanthropy for 2019.
“Our agents and staff are experts in our local communities,” said Neal Hanks, Jr., President of Beverly-Hanks. “Every day, I am proud to see that they are putting that expertise to use to improve the neighborhoods we call home.”
Beverly-Hanks was nominated for the honor by Kevin Montgomery, Resource Development Director of United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County. Montgomery nominated the firm because of their longtime culture of voluntary service and financial contributions. Roughly 80% of Beverly-Hanks agents and staff engage in community volunteering services annually.
“Not many professions lend themselves as well to flexible volunteer hours throughout the year,” said Debbie Williams, Executive Vice President of Beverly-Hanks. “It’s great to see that our agents and staff not only make time, but have the willingness to give back to our community year after year.”
In addition to employee engagement, Beverly-Hanks has contributed over $900,000 through the United Way to nonprofits in Western North Carolina over the last 11 years.
National Philanthropy Day is a special day to recognize and pay tribute to the great contributions that local philanthropists make to our lives, communities, and world. Each November, AFP WNC celebrates the importance of philanthropy and recognizes those who are doing extraordinary work in our community.
