FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Beverly-Hanks Raises $1,200 in One Minute for Hendersonville Students

The local real estate firm stepped up quickly to support a new United Way initiative to benefit students during the COVID-19 pandemic.

October 5, 2020, Hendersonville, NC—Beverly-Hanks, REALTORSⓇ is committed to supporting United Way of Henderson County (UWHC) as they work to fund and assemble 13,000 back-to-school hygiene kits for students in Henderson County. To that end, the office raised $1,200 in cash immediately upon hearing of the program, and will continue to raise funds and assemble kits at least until their goal is met.

“The Hendersonville Beverly-Hanks team realizes our children and young adults are our greatest asset,” said Sonny Iler, Vice President/Managing Broker of Beverly-Hanks’ Main Street Hendersonville office. “Our hope is no student becomes ill with COVID-19. To prevent further spread of the virus, it is important for every student to have adequate personal protective equipment (PPE). The focus of UWHC’s goal is to assure no student goes without PPE and that the Henderson County School System has reserve supplies.”

United Way is spearheading the effort to help Henderson County Public Schools (HCPS) students and staff get back to in-person learning safely. Each hygiene kit will include hand sanitizer, washable masks, and helpful handouts about how students and their families can stay safe while at school or at home. Individuals and organizations can sponsor one kit for $5, an entire classroom for $125, or any amount they choose. The 13,000 kit goal will provide one kit for every student in HCPS.

“Our team requests our clients, friends, and family join us in making donations and helping us exceed our office goal of supplying 2,500 kits,” said Iler. Beverly-Hanks agents have also committed to personally helping pack 100 kits.

UWHC seeks support from across the community for the fifth annual Day of Action. While UWHC’s Day of Action is traditionally a county-wide day of service to help our local schools get ready for the upcoming school year, this year the schools said that what they needed most were hygiene kits for each of their students. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Day of Action has shifted to this single project that allows for safe and socially-distanced volunteering and support by the community, in support of all HCPS students.

Community members who want to donate funds can do so easily by texting ACTION14 to 71777 or by visiting United Way’s website at liveunitedhc.org, and clicking “Day of Action” on the homepage.
