Community: Maggie Valley (Snapshot)

You will be enchanted as you cross the walk bridge over one of the most amazing creeks to enter your home. This beautifully landscaped property with the sounds of the creek is mesmerizing. Relax will be your new favorite word! The original home was built in 1964 and addition added in 1981. Having been operated as a B&B for many years, it is now being offered as a single family residence. The pictures show a large dining room with fireplace but that would/could be the living room on main level as there is large dining area off of the kitchen with access to an open deck on the creek. A glass sided foyer/hallway brings the outside in and transitions from the living space to bedrooms and staircase to more living space downstairs. Lower level den with wood burning insert in fireplace and wet bar. Creekside covered decks off of most rooms and plenty of sitting areas close to the creek. No more building allowed this close to a creek in Maggie Valley. 2 bed septic with several bonus rooms ... see more property features

Just 10 miles outside of Waynesville is Maggie Valley, a quaint mountain delight that sprang up to cater to visitors and still rolls out the welcome mat to traveling tourists. The town is an epicenter of old time mountain fun, from family restaurants and fine dining to foot stomping Appalachian song and dance to putt-putt, elk-spotting and some of the best snow skiing in the South.

From spring to autumn, the valley is also packed with motorcyclists from around the country, who come to traverse the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, motor through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and enjoy the camaraderie of other riders who make annual treks to Maggie to visit the Wheels Through Time Museum. The Museum is among the highlights of a visit to Maggie, featuring a world-class collection of historic motorcycles and some cars. Most of the motorcycles are still in running condition. The museum has been featured in dozens of television shows and magazine articles.

Cataloochee Ski Area features the best skiing in the southern mountains and typically is one of the first ski resorts in the East to open. The resort's snowmaking abilities are constantly modernized and updated, allowing it to add inches of snow to its base every time the weather drops below freezing.

Near the ski resort is Cataloochee Ranch, which has cabins, horse stables, a grand old lodge and restaurant, all atop a 5,000-foot mountain. Those not staying at the ranch are invited to join staff and visitors for evening cookouts, and you might even hear some local storytelling.

From Maggie Valley it's a short drive to Cataloochee Valley in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Elk again roam free in the valley, thanks to a re-introduction program. Dusk is the best bet for guaranteed sightings, but please, stay away from the elk. They have antlers for a reason. For true local charm, look no further than Canton and Clyde, the neighboring towns nestled in eastern Haywood County. They are situated around the Evergreen paper mill, which started life as Blue Ridge Paper Products and has been running steadily for more than 100 years.
