Lifestyles
Away from the hustle and bustle of urban life, Weaverville is attracting newcomers because of its small town friendly atmosphere. With a population of 3,200, Weaverville has had a growth spurt in recent years. The town is situated in the Reems Creek Valley, adjacent to Interstate 26 and just five miles north of Asheville, where many Weaverville residents work. Many artists have found a haven here and on Main Street, a short walk takes you past several art and pottery boutiques, our library and Town Hall, and popular massage therapy businesses. And, a little further down Main Street, are the locations of a new post office and fire department.
One of Weaverville's biggest attractions is the community at the Reems Creek Golf Course. It is a beautiful upscale subdivision with lovely single family homes, townhomes and condominiums sited around the golf course with breathtaking views and a lifestyle coveted by many. Approximately 200 residents have discovered the treasure of living here. Homeowners are blessed with the freedom to pursue their own individual interests or to participate in a multitude of activities such as hiking, reading, bridge, Ma Jongg, crafts, sewing, hosting our annual Art Safari, enjoying golf and more. But the most endearing feature is our Caring Committee. If you want it and need it, we are like a family of support when there is illness, a broken bone or if someone needs transportation to a doctor or emergency room. Neighbors coordinate dinners and visits when someone is alone or in need. This generosity of spirit and energy is amazing!
For more details, please click on the link found on the Property File tab to view The Slice Newsletter, a monthly publication of announcements, special events, etc. Many residents do not play golf, but they enjoy the golfscape. For those who do play , the course is moderately challenging with mountain terrain and is snuggled in one of the most beautiful valleys of western North Carolina. During the spring and summer, there are monthly TGIF social tournaments, which is a great way to join the fun and meet new friends. In addition, there are many charitable tournaments and member tournaments during the year. There is an active Men's Golf Association and a Women's Golf Association.
The town has its own economic base with everything from small independent eateries (like local favorites on Main Street; Blue Mountain Pizza, The Glass Onion, Well-Bred Bakery & Cafe; Poppy's for breakfast, a new Zaxby's and Athens Greek restaurant) to large-scale manufacturers (such as Arvato Digital Services, one of the biggest compact disc producers in the country). And, just a mile off Weaver Blvd. you will find Wal Mart, Lowes Home Improvement, a very nice ABC store, various banks, Mc Donald's, Waffle House, Bojangles and a new Goodwill Store. And of course, there are excellent medical and dental professionals nearby.
Weaverville has earned a reputation for keeping its neighborhoods clean and green. It also honors patriotic memorial days by flying The Stars and Stripes on its streets and it has garnered the Arbor Day Foundation's Tree City USA certification every year since 1990, and in 2009 the foundation named it the top "Tree City" in the state.
The town maintains Lake Louise Park, a hub of local recreation. The small lake is surrounded by picnic tables and shelters, outdoor grills, a playground and a walking trail, making it a perfect spot for family and community events, exercise and romantic strolls.
In a few words...
"Weaverville IS wonderful western North Carolina!"
